Wouldn't you like to learn and grow in an opportunity-rich, high-challenge, low-stress environment? Our children do everyday.
Almaden Country School’s instructional program is founded on a well-rounded, rigorous curriculum that features:
- Fine and performing arts
- Music
- Speech
- Foreign language
- P.E.
These and other enrichments are combined with small class sizes that enable a highly personalized learning experience for every child at our school.
The ACS curriculum is designed to attain California and national academic content-area standards, while affording our teachers flexibility to meet the needs of individual children. Proven across three decades, our academic standards prepare ACS students for the most selective, rigorous high schools and universities; and while we do not teach to the tests, our eighth graders consistently average in the 90th percentile on the SAT10 and Catholic High School admission test.
Our dedicated teachers tailor instruction creatively to the interests and learning styles of each child we serve, as we accomplish our mission of discovering the gifts in every child. The ACS Personal Learning Plan (PLP), unique among Silicon Valley private schools, is created individually for every student and updated twice annually.
ACS teachers implement innovative teaching strategies, reflected in hands-on science investigations and our emphasis on project-based learning, and develop interdisciplinary connections among different subject areas so that students see what they learn in a larger, real-life context.
Learning opportunities extend beyond the classroom with an exciting array of field trips, overnight excursions and experiential learning opportunities across the grade levels.
The ACS curriculum fulfills the school’s Expected School-Wide Learning Results (ESLRs), ensuring that our students are not just covering material, but developing the lifelong learning skills, confidence and preparedness that define an ACS graduate.
ACS is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
