21st Century Skills

21st Century Skills

These skills revolve around communication, collaboration, problem solving, creativity and innovation.

In a time of unprecedented economic, technological, social and geopolitical change, our increasingly “flat” world and rapidly globalizing economy demands that we prepare students for a future we can’t predict.

What's different now?

Traditionally, American education has focused on acquisition of knowledge. For the 21st century, with information instantly accessible and overwhelmingly abundant, education must provide children with a new skill set. Skills that include solving problems, working in teams and thinking creatively.

While ACS will continue to ensure that our students receive a solid grounding in academic skills and foundational knowledge, it is through their exposure to a wide range of learning experiences, opportunities to try (and fail) in a supportive, high-challenge, low-stress environment, and frequent interaction in collaborative, project-based activities that best nurture outcomes like curiosity, creativity, teamwork, and confidence.

Mission Skills Assessment

Teamwork, creativity, ethics, resilience, curiosity and time management. These 21st century skills are critical to your child's success — in school and in life.

Almaden Country School has been selected to be part of the Mission Skills Assessment, a prestigious international study group of 100 elite schools developing an assessment to measure and improve their ability to deliver these critical skills to more than 35,000 students.
