Almaden Country School is nestled in a beautiful green valley in South San Jose, situated in a quiet residential neighborhood adjacent to Graystone Park.
The valley is bordered by the Santa Cruz mountains with Mount Umunhum (Ohlone, meaning “resting place of the hummingbird”) to the west. Mount Umunhum is recognized by locals by the tall concrete building that sits on its summit. Our single-story campus includes nine landscaped acres of classroom buildings, play spaces and athletic fields.
Our Early Childhood Education (ECE), Elementary and Middle School buildings encircle an expansive play area, which features handball, foursquare and basketball courts, three age-specific play structures and two grass athletic fields.
Our Elementary program includes two class sections per grade level, with each pair of classrooms connected through interior doors. The Elementary wing also houses a dedicated science room, computer lab, art studio and library where our students go for many of their enrichment activities.
Our Middle School students enjoy their own self-contained classrooms at the southern edge of campus surrounding their dedicated common area (“The Quad”), a lovely outdoor yard with covered meeting areas, lush landscaping and comfortable gathering spaces.
All students have access to our garden and orchard, auditorium, P.E. building and music room as well. ACS is an “outdoor” campus, with no interior hallways; our students enjoy moving between classes and playing at recess against the stunning backdrop of the forested Almaden Valley hills.
When you visit, you’ll feel the upbeat energy and joy that is the hallmark of the ACS experience, enhanced by the views from our beautiful, functional campus.
