Enrichment as a Core Subject

Most schools define "core" subjects as reading, writing, mathematics, science and social studies.

At ACS, we provide our students with a rich and rigorous footing in these foundational content areas, and our "core" curricula exceeds California and national academic content-area standards, but we also consider our enrichment program to be at the heart of a child’s learning experience.

Enrichment at ACS includes drama, music, art, foreign language, hands-on science, technology, physical education and athletics, library, service learning, and leadership.  Enrichment is a core discipline at ACS and among our signature programs since the school’s founding in 1982.

Enrichments Foster Success

Every one of us has unique interests, talents and abilities that can become apparent at a very young age, and will emerge if identified and cultivated. For nearly three decades at ACS, we’ve offered an extensive enrichment program that enables students to experience a wide variety of learning opportunities, and discover — often surprisingly — their latent talents.

We value and nurture the unique talents in our students so that they realize success early and often in these all-important first years of school. In our experience, early success builds self-confidence and quickly spreads to other areas of a child’s life, establishing the basis for future success and fulfillment.

Enrichment is therefore central to our mission of discovering the gifts in every child, and we provide talented specialist teachers and ample supporting resources that make our enrichment program robust year after year at ACS.
