“Raise the Paddle” Donations Enable Training for Teachers
Posted April 25, 2012
This year’s “Raise the Paddle” event at the auction supported teacher professional development, and your contributions are already making a difference.
Earlier this month, ACS sent Mrs. DeMoss and Ms. Howell to the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) national conference in Indianapolis, where they attended presentations, met with scientists and science educators from around the world, and spent time together planning to enrich the ACS science experience for our children.
Their workshops provided ideas and strategies they can implement this spring, including lessons on owl pellet dissection, the butterfly and moth life cycle, robotics, stream tables, pollinators, paper airplane physics, StarLab strategies, kinesthetic learning, and inquiry in middle school science.
The NSTA conference is the gold standard for science educator training. We anticipate numerous high-quality professional development opportunities for our faculty this summer and next fall, in terms both of conference attendance and via the world-class curriculum experts we can bring to campus to train our entire faculty — all made possible by your generous gifts at the auction.
