Classes are out but day camps are in! From athletics to the arts, there is a fun activity for those who are staying close to home.

Cougar Sports Camps

The Cougar Summer Sports Camp is a day camp offered to boys and girls in grades 1-6. The camp will be held on the ACS campus with the PE portable as the base. Each day will focus on a different sport with other fun games as well as water activities. There are two back-to-back camp dates available. You can select individual days, an entire week-long session or both camps.

Cougar Volleyball Camps

The Cougar Volleyball Camp is a four-day morning camp that focuses on developing volleyball fundamentals. Each morning will focus on skill development and controlled scrimmages. This camp is for boys and girls entering grade 4 through 8. Each session is $160.

Session 1: July 24-28 (except Wednesday, July 26th) @ 8:30am-10:30am
Session 2: July 31 - August 4 (except Wednesday, August 2nd) @ 8:30am-10:30am

Debate Experience Camp

Critical thinking is an essential life skill. Academic debate offers students a unique opportunity to not only develop a critical lens, but to also find their voice. Students in this workshop will learn the fundaments of the 3 major debate styles.

Basic skills include formulating and constructing the written argument, academic research, cross-examination, note taking for argumentation, and creating rebuttal arguments. This class is designed for students who intend to participate in debate as an interscholastic competition. Laptop computers are required. For questions, please contact Coach Chris Wardner.

Staff: Mr. Chris Wardner, who directs the Speech and Debate program at Almaden Country School, will lead the Summer Speech and Debate Experience. Mr. Wardner is also a National Speech and Debate Association Double Diamond Coach with Leland High School. The program at Leland is recognized as one of the nation’s elite and has produced numerous State and National Champions.

Drama Camps

The Jungle Book

July 10 - 28 from 9am - 11:30am
Grades 2 - 5

We cannot wait to watch our youngest performers pull The Jungle Book down from the shelf! The jungle will come to life as our hero, Mowgli, encounters other beloved characters: fun-loving Baloo, groovy King Louie, and protective Bagheera. With all of our favorite songs from the film -- “I Wanna Be Like You," “The Bare Necessities," and more! -- come be part of the newest generation of San Jose performers, as you lead ACS through the jungle and into the future!

Registration will remain open until our casts are full, and we cannot wait to meet this summer's JUNGLE!

Seussical

July 10 - 28 from 12:30pm - 3pm
Grades 5 - 8

Oh, the places you'll go!!! This celebrated musical will transport you through the jungle of Nool with The Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, The Grinch, and other beloved Dr. Seuss characters. Seussical offers a variety of zany roles, sticky situations, and exciting production numbers sure to delight audiences -- both young and young at heart.

Math Camp

Avoid the summer slide!

Math Camp is designed for students entering 3rd or 4th grade and will be taught by our sixth grade mathematics teacher Travis Linquist.

Session 1 will focus on building and strengthening students’ understanding of place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. There will also be an introduction to fraction concepts.

Session 2 will focus on fractions, decimals, percents, geometry, and algebraic reasoning. Fun but challenging explorations will help students develop a variety of new strategies while improving their number sense and problem solving skills. Snacks will be provided. Questions? Speech Experience Camp

Public speaking is one of the most important life skills a student can develop. Using a series of activities targeting young speakers, this one-week workshop will set your student on the path to speaking success.

Content covered includes fundamental delivery skills, how to utilize research, use of visual aids to enhance presentations, and fundaments of writing for a presentation. Students should bring a laptop or other internet capable device. For questions, please contact Mr. Chris Wardner.
