First and foremost, special events are designed to build community at
Almaden Country School. Nothing is more important than coming together
to accomplish something that no single person is likely to manage on his
or her own.
Annual Fund Run
The 31th annual Fund Run will be held on Friday, September 27, 2013. The Fund Run involves every ACS student in a festive day of exercise, charity and fun. Fund Run proceeds subsidize educational materials used in the classroom and is the single major fund raiser supporting a variety of PSA organized programs and events such as the Back to School Family Dinner, Halloween Pumpkin Carving Event, Teacher Appreciation Luncheons, Middle School Socials and Middle School EDGE Day Program.
All grade levels from Begindergarten through 8th Grade collect Fund Run pledges. Pledges can be made based on the number of laps run or as a flat amount. The goal of the Fund Run is to raise $36,000. Pledges can now be made online and are being collected through October 4, 2013.
Students are encouraged to set "personal best" goals for the number of laps they hope to run, and Big Buddies jog with their Little Buddies, encouraging them and building friendships that extend across the school year. Classes receive special recognition for their group efforts. At the culmination of Spirit Week, the school-wide Fund Run not only generates financial support, but also fosters pride in individual and team efforts, building unity and camaraderie among all members of the ACS community.
